Comparing weather
Being a travel enthusiast and having lived in several countries during my life, my weather apps have a long list of random locations. When traveling to a new location, I often add the city name to my weather app and tend to forget to remove it after the trip. I found myself comparing my current weather information to the other ones in the list. I regularly check what kind of weather my parents currently have and during those cold winter mornings I think back to the hot days of living in Asia.
From these thoughts I got the idea of making a weather app fully focused on comparing weather information in different locations. I navigated to openweathermap.org which is an API for weather information I’ve used before and ran some tests on the different kind of data I could compare. In the end I ended up comparing a list of 7 values.
- Temperature now
- Temperature (Daily High)
- Temperature (Daily Low)
- Humidity (%)
- Wind speed
- Cloudiness (%)
- Air Pressure
- Day length
At first I also compared the amount of rain and snow but soon found out that not many of these locations had rain at the same time and the comparisons were quite dry (hehe).
